Super sub-station planned for Elmwood

A massive "super" electrical sub-station is being planned by Wolverine Electric for the intersection of M-72 and Bugai Roads. Elmwood Township residents have expressed concern over:

• The size of the project - several times larger than the huge installation south of Traverse City on Keystone Road
  
• Its possible health effects on neighbors
  
• Negative effects on neighborhood property values
  
• Incompatibility with existing planning for the M-72 scenic corridor
  
• The secretive way in which the project was planned and applied for in Elmwood Township

Key dates:

• Tuesday, November 11, 7pm: Elmwood Township Board of Trustees meeting at Township Hall will consider this project
  
• Wednesday, December 19, 7pm: Elmwood Township Zoning Board of Appeals meeting at Township Hall will hear arguments against the project
